The Guinness World Records organisation has attached itself to videogames for some time now. It's now defined the number of video games owned required for a world record.
As you can see from the video below, that number is 10,607. The owner of the hoard is one Michael Thomasson, a 43 year-old part-time games designer and coding teacher at Canisius College from Buffalo, New York State, USA who started his collection with Cosmic Avenger
when he was 12.
His record - he claims 11,000 games - beats that the previous record holder, Richard Lecce, who held the record first recorded in 2010 with 8,616 games.
Thomasson tells the Associated Press
, "I have games on cartridge, laser disc. I have VHS-based games, cassette-based games..."
