Nvidia has formally announced its entry into the portable gaming market, with the unveiling of Project Shield. The Android-powered game-centric device will include the company's Tegra 4 processor, integrated speakers, a 5-inch multi-touch display and Wi-Fi connectivity.
"Designed for gamers who yearn to play when, where and how they want," Project Shield is a controller-screen combo, and looks a little like those "50 in 1" toys you used to find in Woolworths. But the horsepower that it contains, and the 'open' sensibilities of Google's Android platform, will hopefully distract potential owners from how the thing actually looks.
Project Shield will be entering a packed portable gaming market, which already includes the iPhone, 3DS, Vita, PlayStation-certified Xperia phones and various Android devices. Nvidia is hoping its "full-size console-grade game controller" will set it apart from the rest. What do you think?

To my knowledge, it's a Touchscreen with a controller, that can stream directly from your PC on top of whatever else you put on it. As a gaming device, I think it beats all versions of the DS & PSP.
Also has Android on it, so it might not be too bad of a Tablet either.

Let me be the first to say: doomed.
