Did Phil Harrison Leave Sony Because of PS4?

The rumour, she says "Yes!"

An intriguing piece of tittle tattle has bobbed to the surface of the rumour pond suggesting that Phil Harrison - now president of Infogrames - parted ways with Sony Worldwide Studios because of the impending PlayStation 4 project.

Get your salt cellar ready. This comes from "Highly placed sources" who share no names. VideoGaming247 reports it was told, “He could see he was about to get involved in another PlayStation cycle, and obviously wanted something new... The same thing was happening again and he’d been through it enough times to want to move on.”

As we said, give this one an unhealthily generous dose of salt.

Harrison's departure from Sony was very surprising to many. He had weathered the storm of the console's teething troubles only to move on when the going seemed to be getting good. Within a week of walking out of Sony's doors, Harrison re-surfaced at Infogrames as president and Directeur Général Délégué.

it take a massive amount of salt with it,

its highly unlikely the PS4 specs would be out of theory annd into fact for harrison to have no say in what should be coming next gen, maybe he did see things he didnt like but at a stage of console development where nothing is set why would he throw a strop and leave?

i cant imagine why he left maybe he just relaised that he couldnt really climb much higher at sony, not
aving eastern blood and all.

PS3 was a disaster, so the loser of each console generation is the first to launch new console in the next gen.

Given PS3 is the loser of this gen, PS4 would be the first to launch.

[completely unsubstantiated bullshit]

This story is fiction.

This 'story' actually stems from a rumour from a blog, and VG247 reported it to get hits.

It is a long time before PlayStation 4 specs have been finalised, so this 'news' doesnt ring true.

Spong. Please dont dwell on the mistakes of 247

We did lace the story with salt and mentions of salt.

Although, I would agree that it's going to be some time before PS4 specs are finalised - and can see that the development cycle is already in process for the next Sony Computer Entertainment home device - let's call its PS4 because Sony loves a brand.

That said, cheers for keeping making sure that we're not going overboard with stories. This kind of critical feedback is more important than many people realised.

Cheers

Phil Harrison actually left Sony because you troll so well for Microsoft that you've singlehandedly won the console wars.

Peter Moore's actually working right now on a fake tattoo you can wear which says "Top 360 Fanbaby". And he's even prepared to forgive your Sony sound system, since he's seen the stains on your Xbox.

No problem! I like Spong it's a great website with a UK angle. There is a lot of pressure to include news that turns up on other sites, but if it sounds dodgy, leave it out. Other websites who put 'bad' news become thought of as untrustworthy.
All the best.
