Sony: PlayStation Phone NOT In The Works
A Sony representative has told SPOnG that the Sony Computer Entertainment is not working with another division on a PlayStation phone.

"We do have talks with other arms of the Sony family about various topics but I can confirm we are not currently working together on the creation of a PlayStation Phone", SPOnG was told by the representative.

The rumour mill recently got turning again thanks to comments published by India's Economic Times which supposedly came from SCE's co-chief operating officer, Jim Ryan. Sony tells us that Ryan was in fact misquoted by the Economic Times, although his comments were vague to start with.

The hardened cynics out there might see a bit of wiggle room in Sony's statement - it's possible that arms of the Sony family aren't working together on a PlayStation phone but that one of them is working on it individually. SPOnG, frankly, doubts it. It's unlikely that a Sony division would neglect to use another's expertise on such a project.

This does not, of course, mean that a PlayStation phone will not come at some point, we just shouldn't be expecting it in the near future.

realistically why would sony want to take anything away from the PSP, ok so the PSP isnt doing as well as a certain nintendo product but its doing well in its own right and the future of the PSP would be the PSP2 which would most likely feature Touch and Motion controls or some of that world best selling gimicky crap we all love, in fact it would have more in common with a DS than a phone or at least it would if sony knows what gamers want, am i right?

or maybe sony will use the PSP2 to launch its new portable media format!!
