Is it or isn’t it? Namco go on record about Xbox
Following conflicting reports from Famitsu and Bloomberg regarding Namco’s commitment to Microsoft’s Xbox, the Japanese games giant has gone on record to clarify its position.

Namco has confirmed that it is underway with the development of at least two Xbox games that have been described as being aimed at “The American and European games markets.” What this means exactly is unclear.

"We are excited about the Xbox particularly for North America and Europe. We will be announcing details on these titles this coming May at E3. We hope to make it a launch title," said Yoichi Haraguchi, Namco’s Consumer Division Manager commented.

We can only assume that this means that Namco will be changing its release strategy per territory for the Xbox. Instead of making games for the Japanese market and passing what it thinks Americans and Europeans will like across, we will get games specifically tailored to our tastes.

Is this a good thing? Many gamers enjoy the ‘Japanese-ness’ of games from companies like Namco. We’ll have to wait and see.
