New Spiderman 3 Trailer Here – The Sandman Cometh

A big giant man, made out of sand

Posted by Staff
Activision’s Spiderman 3 is one of the publishers biggest games of the early summer – due for an early May release – so its nice to be able to bring you another new trailer from the game today.

Unlike the recent trailer starring Hobgoblin, this time, we get to see a little snippet of Spidey battling the evil Sandman, who seems to be able to grow his sandy body from normal human size up to massive sandgiant size in a matter of seconds.

SPOnG will bring you a full preview of the game in the coming weeks, so watch out for that. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the trailer below.

Hobgoblin? you mean Harry? His official name in the movie seems to be just "the new goblin"

I await the return of our Comic book ... erm graphic novel... erm... Spiderman expert. But to the best of my knowledge it always was Hobgoblin.

I've been reading spider-man for over 10 years, since amazing 400 (currently it's at number 539), therefore I qualify as an expert on the matter. And the only continuity comic wise Harry as appeared in as the Hobgoblin is the Ultimate Continuity, and the movie is following neither continuity, hell in some ways the guy looks like he could be rocket racer with goblin gadgets.

From wiki: James Franco as Harry Osborn / New Goblin: The son of Norman Osborn and Peter Parker's former best friend who believes that Spider-Man murdered his father. After learning Peter Parker is Spider-Man, Harry becomes the New Goblin to battle his former friend directly.

He definately hasn't been offically named the hobgoblin as far as I can tell

He hasn't officially been named anything. The "new" in "New Goblin" is descriptive. Harry hasn't appeared in 616 continuity in about a decade, and in everyone's head (from the mainstream right through to folk with a £30 a week comic habit) "Green Goblin" refers to Norman Osborn (and I work in a comic shop, so I know). It's unlikely that Raimi's going to have muddied the waters by calling Harry "Green."

And yes, he did appear in Ultimate continuity as the Hobgoblin quite recently, in a story that's reached a very large audience as comics go. So call "Hobgoblin" a well educated guess.

Not to be a jackass or anything, but Spinface, 10years in the Spiderverse doesn't make you an expert. Spiderman has been around a lot longer than that and you've missed a few stories... here son, why don't you catch up. Harry was the Green Goblin 2, read all about it while you have a slice of humble.

Harry as Green Goblin 2

Thanks 'Anonymous'. I own the issue Harry died in, tacky foil cover and all, so I'm quite aware that Harry was the Green Goblin in the 616 universe.

My point was simply that it's unlikely that's what he'll get called in the film, while "Hobgoblin" is a pretty good bet thanks to the recent Ultimate storyline. Harry as the Green Goblin smacked of Marvel editors sat around (as they nearly killed the 90's comic industry), saying "so, killing our best Spider-Man villain wasn't too cracking an idea. What shall we do to put off the inevitable moment where we bring him back? I know..."

And I never claimed to be an expert, '10years in the Spiderverse' was InsaneJohnny, not me. You might want to check who you're replying to.

I will not be eating any of your pie. Thankyou.
